The Sources We Check, and How Often We Use Them
Where every status, price and spec on GunReleases comes from. We actively monitor 184 sources: 149 maker newsrooms and product pages, 25 press-release wires and trade outlets, and 10 sites we check by hand in a browser. The counts below come straight from our data.
Where the facts come from
| Fact | From the maker | From a retailer, wire or trade outlet |
|---|---|---|
| Announcement source | 54 | 137 |
| Current status | 83 | 108 |
| MSRP source | 113 | 45 |
| Spec table source (links) | 247 | 120 |
Makers are our first choice for MSRP and specs. Retailers are where stock actually shows up, so most "Shipping" statuses cite the retailer listing where we confirmed it. Trade wires such as The Outdoor Wire and Shooting Wire carry the makers' own press releases. Our ranking rules are on How We Track.

What we don't use as a source
Forums, social posts, YouTube and rumor sites can tip us off, but they're never the source of a published status, price or spec. Neither are AI tools. When the maker hasn't published a number, we leave it blank. We don't estimate it.
How the checks work
A daily automated stock check visits each product's status source, and a person reviews the changes it makes. Weekly hand checks cover the maker sites that block scripts. Every product page shows its own last-checked date. Mistakes get fixed and logged on our corrections page.
