New Night Vision Goggles and Thermal Monoculars of 2026
Owning the night is a right worth exercising, whether you're guarding your property, running hogs off a field or training after dark. This guide covers this year's new night vision goggles and housings, plus the handheld thermals you scan with: monoculars, binoculars and clip-ons. We track 12 of them, and 7 are confirmed shipping. For thermal riflescopes, see our separate best new thermal scopes for hogs and coyotes guide.
Night vision or thermal: which do you need?
Night vision (image intensification) amplifies the light that's already there, from the moon, stars or an IR illuminator. You see a natural-looking scene with depth and detail, which makes it the choice for moving on foot, driving and identifying what you're looking at. It needs some light and is the classic helmet-mounted setup.
Thermal sees heat, not light. It works in total darkness and picks out a warm animal through brush, haze and shadows that would hide it in night vision. It's the better tool for finding things, and the reason hog and predator hunters scan with a thermal monocular first. It shows less fine detail for navigation.
Many serious users run both: a thermal to detect, and night vision to move and identify. Your budget usually decides which one you buy first.

New night vision goggles and housings
Binocular goggles
The L3Harris NOVA is a binocular goggle derived from L3Harris's Army BiNOD work, with unfilmed Gen 3 tubes that swap out with four screws. Earlier coverage gives a field of view of about 39 degrees (one retailer lists 40), a weight of about 542 g and 30+ hours on a single AA lithium. It's IP68-sealed and has a built-in IR illuminator. L3Harris publishes no MSRP. Retailers list it from about $10,177 to $10,995, but neither retailer page confirmed units in stock when we checked, so it's Listed, no stock.
Panoramic goggles
Steele Industries' NightHawk-Pano, developed with Nocturn, is a 100-degree panoramic goggle on MX-11769-format tubes with manual gain and independently articulating pods. You can flip one pod up without shutting the system down. It weighs 880 g, starts at $19,999.98, and is Listed, no stock. Nocturn's own Chimera is billed as the first articulating quad-tube panoramic goggle, a 7075-T6 aluminum housing for 18mm tubes at $8,500. Nocturn's page called it "currently in development" when we checked.
Build-your-own housings
A housing is the body of the device. You add tubes (and optics, if they aren't included), usually through a builder. Nocturn's two shipping housings, sold through TNVC, are the most accessible new options:
- Nocturn Talon ($489, housing only): an ultralight PVS-14-style monocular housing at 53 g, with one knob for power, gain and IR, about 50 hours on a CR123A or AA, and PVS-14 J-arm compatibility. Nocturn lists it as made in the USA. Complete TNVC builds run $3,399 to $5,599.
- Nocturn Raptor ($1,799, housing only): an articulating binocular housing with single-knob control, 26+ hours on a CR123A and a LEMO port for external power. Complete TNVC builds run $7,699 to $12,099.
A monocular is the classic first night vision device: lighter, cheaper and easy to move between a helmet and a hand. A binocular adds depth perception, which matters when you're walking or driving.
Helmet setup
If you're running a goggle on a helmet, Gentex's Ops-Core AMP Rail Mount with Vent Mode adds a three-position mount (Deployed, Vented and Stowed) for the Ops-Core AMP headset. You can lift the earcups off your ears on a long night while your comms stay live. Gentex's store listed it at $163.95.
New thermal monoculars
Thermal monoculars range widely in price, so here they are from entry level up:
- ATN BlazeSeeker 6 (from $499.99): the entry point. It's a 270 g, IP67 monocular with a 256x192 sensor on the base model, a 50 Hz refresh and about 8 hours of internal battery. ATN rates detection at 345 m for the base model, so it's for close range, but it's thermal under $500.
- Pixfra Mile 3: a pocket line (M325, M335, M625 and M625 LRF) with up to 640x512 resolution, a 15 mK sensor, swappable 18650s for up to 11 hours, and a 1,000 m rangefinder on the M625 LRF. It's Announced for U.S. buyers, with no U.S. price yet.
- Armasight Pro Series: every model uses the ArmaCORE 640 12 µm Gen 4 sensor at 60 Hz. The Sidekick Pro 640 1-4x19 monocular is $2,999 at Armasight's store, and the Warden Pro 640 monoculars are $3,599 and $3,799. The same line includes weapon sights and clip-ons.
- Pulsar Telos LRF XT50 ($4,699.97): the flagship, with a 1280x1024 sensor, a wide 17.5-degree view, a rangefinder to 1,312 yards and 128 GB of memory. Pulsar lists it at the same price as the 1024x768 Telos LRF XL50, so the XT50's higher resolution comes at no extra cost on Pulsar's price list. The XL50 isn't a 2026 model; Pulsar launched it at IWA 2024.
Thermal binoculars and clip-ons
ATN's BinoX 6 Dual 640 ($2,895) is a 4-in-1 binocular that combines a 640 thermal sensor (≤15 mK) with a 4K day sensor, a rangefinder and recording. ATN rates thermal detection at 2,750 m. At 730 g, it lets one device handle day glassing and night scanning.
A clip-on mounts in front of the day scope you already zeroed, so you add thermal without re-zeroing. ATN's TICO 6 640 ($2,995) uses a 640x512, ≤18 mK sensor behind a 50 mm lens, weighs 564 g and works as a handheld monocular too. ATN recommends it with day scopes up to 15x. Armasight's Pro Series clip-ons, the Jockey Pro 640 ($3,399) and Operator Pro 640 ($3,799 and $3,999), are the other new options.

Buying tips
- Resolution and lens decide range. A 640 or 1280 sensor behind a bigger lens identifies animals much farther out than a 256 sensor. Detection ranges are maker figures for spotting a heat source, not for telling a hog from a dog.
- For night vision, the tube matters most. Housings like the Talon and Raptor are only half the device. Ask the builder for the tube's specs before you buy.
- Check your state's hunting rules. Several states restrict hunting with thermal or night vision, or limit it to certain species or seasons.
- Confirm the price. Thermal makers run frequent sales. Our price change log records the changes we confirm.

How we chose
Every product here comes from our release database, which tracks new products from announcement to shipping. To make the list, a product had to be announced for 2026 (or in late 2025 for 2026 availability) and have a cited maker or trade-press source. We grouped products by job using maker specs, then weighed MSRP and verified shipping status. If two did the same job, we favored the one you can buy today.
We haven't range-tested these products. Picks are editorial judgments based on published data. Prices are maker MSRPs, and status comes from our latest dated check on each product page. Read how we track releases and our editorial standards.
