Palmetto State Armory (PSA) is an American firearms company based in Columbia, South Carolina, and named for the state's nickname. It also runs retail stores in South Carolina, Georgia and North Carolina. Its AXR rifles, shown at SHOT Show 2026, are a new family that PSA says is not based on the AR-15.

AXR SSP (rifle, announced Jan 2026, not yet shipping, MSRP Not yet announced). The AXR SSP is Palmetto State Armory's new short-stroke piston rifle, replacing what PSA previously showed as the Jakl 2.0. It is bufferless, built on a proprietary ambidextrous lower, and has a swappable-barrel modular upper. It's PSA's move beyond the AR-15: a piston gun with a folding brace that can run short, which suits suppressors now that the federal NFA tax is $0.
