Daniel Defense DD4 X1: Release Date, Price & Specs

The DD4 X1 is Daniel Defense's top-of-the-line AR, shown as a finished prototype at SHOT Show 2026 with a DD5-style bolt-up barrel system, a tungsten-weighted DLC carrier and heat-signature-reducing features from a military program.

Why it matters

Daniel Defense told The Firearm Blog the X1 will sit above the V7 and RIII as its best AR. Civilian buyers rarely get rifles this close to a special operations requirement.

What's new

Per The Firearm Blog's booth report, the X1 borrows from the DD5: the bolt-up barrel system for rigidity and a DLC-coated carrier, here with a tungsten weight to smooth recoil. It adds carbon-fiber heat shields under the handguard and IR-defeating Cerakote to cut its night-vision and thermal signature.

Shown at SHOT Show 2026 (Jan. 20-23, 2026). On Oct. 20, 2026 we found no Daniel Defense product page, MSRP, caliber list or ship date (Daniel Defense's site blocked our checker). At the show, Daniel Defense staff told The Firearm Blog they expected a market release in Q3 2026 at roughly $3,000. That is an estimate, not an MSRP, and we could not confirm a Q3 launch.

Who it's for: Serious AR buyers who want a premium, suppressor-era rifle and are willing to wait for a launch.
