HK VP9CC vs SIG P365: The New Micro-Compact Takes On the Benchmark
The SIG P365 created the modern micro-compact 9mm in 2018: ten rounds in a gun the size of a .380. Heckler & Koch's VP9CC, announced in April 2026, is HK's answer, with the VP9 trigger and a new optics system that seats a red dot lower on the slide. Here's how they stack up, using numbers from HK's and SIG's own pages.

VP9CC specs from HK and American Rifleman. P365 specs from SIG's P365 Nitron Micro-Compact page; *SIG's page omits barrel length, so 3.1 in is from Brownells' listing. SIG's launch price was in its 2018 announcement.
Size and weight
On paper these are close. The P365 is a little smaller everywhere: 0.22 inch shorter, 0.11 inch lower, and 2.2 ounces lighter. In a pocket or an appendix holster, that's noticeable but not dramatic. Barrel lengths are within three-hundredths of an inch, so velocity and sight radius won't separate them.
Capacity
Both start at 10+1 flush. HK offers a 12-round extended magazine for the VP9CC. SIG ships the P365 with a flush and an extended 10-rounder and offers 12- and 15-round magazines as options. The P365 also has eight years of aftermarket behind it: magazines, grip modules, holsters and slides from dozens of makers. The VP9CC is new and the holster selection will take time to catch up.
Optics
This is where HK put its effort. HK says the VP9CC's new optics system seats a red dot about 40 percent lower than a conventional plate, low enough to co-witness with standard-height sights. HK sells it optics-ready at $1,049 or with a Vortex Defender CCW installed at $1,399. The base P365 slide isn't cut for an optic. SIG sells the P365 Optic Ready and the P365X and XMacro family for that, so make sure you're comparing the right SKU.
Trigger and controls
The VP9 trigger is the reason many shooters want an HK, and the VP9CC brings it to a carry size smaller than the VP9SK. It also keeps the VP9's ambidextrous controls. The P365 is striker-fired with what SIG calls a "clean crisp trigger pull," and it comes with or without a manual safety. If you want a thumb safety, the P365 offers one; we found no manual-safety VP9CC in HK's launch materials.
Price
The VP9CC is a premium pistol at a premium price, $1,049 optics-ready. SIG doesn't print a current MSRP on the P365 page, but its launch price was $599.99, and it's sold for well under the VP9CC since. Check current street prices before you decide; the gap is real.
Release dates and availability
SIG introduced the P365 in 2018, and it has been in continuous production since, with a long family of variants: the P365X, XL, XMacro and more. HK's VP9CC was covered by American Rifleman on April 8, 2026. Our tracker shows it as Shipping, and we update that when we confirm stock. Track it on the VP9CC release page.
Which one should you buy?
- Smallest, lightest carry gun: the P365. It's smaller in every measured dimension and 2.2 oz lighter.
- Best trigger and a low-mounted dot: the VP9CC. HK's lower optic seating and the VP9 trigger are the reasons to pay more.
- Want a manual safety: the P365, which SIG offers with one.
- Holsters and accessories today: the P365, with years of aftermarket support.
- Budget: the P365, by a wide margin.
- Already shoot a full-size VP9: the VP9CC, for the same trigger and manual of arms in a carry size.
Both are serious carry guns from serious makers. Exercise your right to carry with whichever one you'll shoot well and actually wear every day.
