SIG P211 vs Kimber 2K11: Which New Double-Stack 1911?
SIG Sauer's P211 and Kimber's 2K11 Comp are two of 2026's new double-stack, single-action 9mm 1911s, and each comes in a full-size and a carry length. The short answer: the 2K11 Comp is the compensated gun, and it's shipping now. The P211-FULL and P211-CARRY are slightly slimmer and shorter, with a bull barrel, a Picatinny rail and a direct-mount optic cut, but on October 17, 2026 SIG's pages for both read "COMING SOON!" with no price. If you want a comped P211 today, SIG's P211-GTO is the closer rival (see below).

SIG figures are from SIG Sauer's P211-FULL and P211-CARRY Models tables, captured in a browser. Kimber figures and MSRPs are from Kimber America's product page for each SKU. Both checked October 17, 2026. SIG weighs its pistols with a magazine and Kimber with an empty magazine, so treat the weights as close but not identical.
What's the same
Both are double-stack, single-action-only 9mm pistols built on the 1911 layout, each with a manual safety and a stainless slide. Each line comes in two lengths about three-quarters of an inch apart, and the full-size guns weigh within a tenth of an ounce of each other on the makers' figures. Both are optic-ready out of the box.
What's different
Compensator vs bull barrel
The biggest difference: Kimber machines a compensator into the 2K11's slide and barrel, with a 0.16-square-inch forward port. SIG's P211-FULL and P211-CARRY use a plain bull barrel in carbon steel. If you want less muzzle rise without adding length, the 2K11 Comp is the one. If you prefer a conventional, uncompensated barrel, the P211 is.
Size
The P211 is slimmer (1.48 vs 1.53 in) and shorter in height (5.4 vs 5.76 in). The P211-CARRY is also 0.19 inch shorter overall than the 2K11 Pro Comp (7.6 vs 7.79 in), which matters if you carry.
Frame, rail and grip
SIG uses an alloy frame with a 1913 Picatinny rail and a polymer grip. Kimber builds the 2K11 on a stainless frame over an SST steel sub-frame with a carbon-fiber and glass grip module, and adds a Stan Chen Customs magwell on its black DLC models.
Sights and optics
SIG ships an XRAY3 Day/Night front and blackout rear, and cuts the slide for SIG-LOC PRO direct mounting. Kimber uses a TAG FiberLok 2 fiber-optic front and includes an RMR adapter plate.
Magazines
The full-size P211 includes one 17-round and two 21-round steel magazines. The 5-inch 2K11 Comp includes one 17 and two 20s, and the Pro Comp two 19s. Both makers offer 10-round versions for restricted states.
Price and availability
Kimber lists the 2K11 Comp at $2,399-$2,599 and the Pro Comp at $2,425-$2,599, and retailers we checked had the 2K11 Comp in stock. SIG has not published a price for the P211-FULL or P211-CARRY, and both pages read "COMING SOON!". SIG shows no firearm prices on its P211 pages at all; retailers list the shipping P211-GT5 around $2,100 (Gunprime $2,099.99, with a retailer-stated MSRP of $2,299.99).
The rest of the P211 family: GTO and GT5
Two P211 models were already on sale on October 17, 2026, each with a "BUY NOW" button on SIG's site. They are heavier, steel-framed guns, and the GTO is the one that goes head to head with the 2K11 Comp.

GTO and GT5 figures are from SIG's P211-GTO and P211-GT5 Models tables, captured in a browser on October 17, 2026. SIG also lists GT4 Coyote, GTO Equinox, GTO Spectre Comp, GTO Nightshift and GTO Quicksilver variants with "BUY NOW"; we haven't captured their spec tables. SIG introduced the GTO on June 23, 2025, so we don't track it as a 2026 release. See our P211-GT5 release page and the P211-GTO vs GT5 vs GT4 comparison.
The takeaway: the P211-GTO's MACH3D comp makes it the true comped rival to the 2K11 Comp, but its steel frame puts it about 10 oz heavier, at 45.9 vs 35.6 oz. The 2K11 is the lighter comped double-stack. The alloy-framed P211-FULL, once it ships, closes that weight gap but gives up the comp.
Which one should you buy?
- You want a comp gun and you want it now: the Kimber 2K11 Comp or Pro Comp.
- Slimmest carry 2011-style gun: the SIG P211-CARRY, at 1.48 in wide and 7.6 in long, once SIG ships it.
- A comped P211 you can buy now: the P211-GTO, with a MACH3D compensator and 23-round magazine, at the cost of about 10 oz more weight than the 2K11 Comp.
- Rail-mounted light and night sights out of the box: the SIG P211-FULL, with a Picatinny rail and XRAY3 Day/Night front.
Either way, it's a good year to own a double-stack 1911. Both are serious defensive pistols that law-abiding Americans can carry and compete with.
