SIG P211-GTO vs GT5 vs GT4: Which P211?
SIG's P211 double-stack 1911 line now has three steel-framed models on sale: the comped P211-GTO (introduced June 2025), and the GT5 full-size and GT4 carry guns introduced at SHOT Show 2026. Two lighter alloy-framed models, the P211-FULL and P211-CARRY, are still "COMING SOON!" on SIG's site. The short answer: the GTO for competition with a comp, the GT5 for a full-size duty or range gun without one, and the GT4 for carry.

GTO and GT5 figures are from SIG's Models tables, captured in a browser on October 17, 2026. GT4 details are from SIG's January 16, 2026 launch release, because we haven't captured the GT4's spec table yet. SIG shows no firearm prices on these pages. The GTO and GT5 tables both list a manual safety, a single-action-only flat skeletonized trigger, a carbon-steel barrel and a 1913 Picatinny rail.
What's the same
All three are 9mm (SIG's SKUs start 211F-9 and 211CA-9), single-action, double-stack pistols on the P211 platform, with steel frames and alloy grip modules. The GTO and GT5 tables list a stainless slide in Nitron. SIG's launch release lists a grip safety, ambidextrous thumb safeties and a firing pin safety for the GT4 and GT5. The GTO and GT5 are the same 8.5-inch overall length and 1.48-inch width, and both are cut for SIG-LOC PRO direct optic mounting with ROMEO-X packages available.
What's different
Compensator
Only the GTO has one: a 4.4-inch bull barrel paired with SIG's MACH3D compensator. The GT5 uses a longer uncompensated bull barrel (4.9 inches in SIG's spec table, 5 inches in the launch release), and the GT4 a 4.2-inch bull barrel.
Height, weight and sight radius
The GTO is the shortest in height at 5.25 inches against the GT5's 5.75, and 0.5 oz lighter (45.9 vs 46.4 oz). The GT5's longer slide gives it a 6.5-inch sight radius against the GTO's 5.56.
Sights and magazines
The GTO ships with a fiber-optic front and a 23-round magazine plus two 21s, which suits competition. The GT5 has an XRAY3 Day/Night front and ships with a 17 and two 21s, a duty-style setup.
Carry
The GT4 is the carry model: a 4.2-inch barrel, carry-length dust cover and a low-profile magwell, per SIG. If you want a P211 to carry that's lighter still, the alloy-framed P211-CARRY (33.1 oz, 4.2 in) is coming but not yet on sale.
Which one should you buy?
- Competition, steel and range days: the P211-GTO, for its MACH3D comp, fiber front and 23-round magazine.
- Duty or home defense, full-size: the P211-GT5, with night sights and a full-length dust cover rail.
- Concealed carry: the P211-GT4, or wait for the lighter alloy P211-CARRY.
Whichever you pick, the P211 gives law-abiding shooters a 2011-style pistol that takes P320-pattern magazines, per SIG.
